Delete your data

Close your PracticeSession account, or delete particular data without closing it

Before you ask

You may not need to. PracticeSession works without an account, and most of what you make with it never leaves your device. An account exists only so that library sync and cloud stem separation can work.

  • To stop syncing but keep your account, open the app and go to Tools, then Libraries, and choose Stop syncing on the library. Everything already on your device stays where it is. Note that this stops the syncing rather than deleting anything: the copy we already hold stays until you ask for it to go, which is what this page is for.
  • To remove everything held on your own device, uninstall the app. We cannot reach that data and it is not part of this request.

If you use the Android app, do it there instead

You can delete your account from inside the app, and it happens straight away rather than as a request: open Tools, then Libraries, then Delete account. The app shows you what the account holds before you confirm anything. It can act immediately because you are already signed in there, so we do not have to establish who you are by email first.

This form is for everyone else, and for deleting particular data without closing the account.

Cancel a paid plan first

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, and we cannot cancel one on your behalf. If you have a paid sync plan, cancel it before you send this request, or it will carry on renewing after the account it belonged to is gone. If you took it out through Google Play, cancel it there; otherwise cancel it wherever you took it out.

What you can ask for

Either of these, and the same form covers both. Say which you want in the message.

  • Delete my account and everything in it. The whole account goes.
  • Delete particular data, but keep my account. For example a synced library you no longer want us to hold, while your account and the rest stay as they are.

What we delete

If you ask us to close the account, we delete:

  • Your email address and the record that it was verified
  • The link between your devices and your account
  • Your stem separation credit balance, along with the record of how it was spent. Unspent credits are forfeited and are not refunded
  • Any library data you synced to us: songs, regions, loops, setlists, lyrics, chords, notes and practice sessions
  • Any files you synced to us: audio, recordings and attachments

What we keep, and why

Three things survive a deletion, and each is kept as narrowly as it can be.

  • Records of purchases, where tax and accounting law requires us to retain them. These are transaction records, not your library or your music. Separately, Google keeps its own record of anything you bought through Google Play. That record is held under Google's terms rather than ours, and it is not something we can remove.
  • A note that a device has already had its free trial, which is the device identifier and the date that trial started. Without it, an account could be deleted and a fresh trial started over and over on the same device. After your account is gone this record is no longer connected to you: not to your name, not to your email address, not to anything you did in the app. It says only that some device has had its trial.
  • Support messages you have sent us, with the name and email address they were sent from, so that a past support matter can still be answered afterwards. The IP address and browser details we record to protect our forms from abuse are cleared at the same time.

What is not ours to delete

Data on your own devices is a separate matter, and it is not something we keep. We never have it: your library, your audio and your recordings live in the app's private storage on your phone, where we cannot read them. That is why this request does not touch them. To remove them, uninstall the app.

An unlock bought through Google Play stays yours too. It belongs to the Google account that paid for it rather than to us, so deleting your PracticeSession account does not take it away, and reinstalling the app restores it. It is not something we hold or could remove.

Deletion is permanent. Synced libraries and files cannot be recovered afterwards, so if a library exists only on our servers and not on a device you still have, download it in the app before you send this request. Any unspent stem separation credits go with it and are not refunded, so spend them first if you have a balance you care about.

How we check it is you

We never delete an account on the strength of this form alone. We reply to the address you give below and ask you to confirm, and nothing is deleted until you do.

So a request sent from someone else cannot remove your data: the confirmation goes to the account's own address, not to whoever filled in the form.

How long it takes

We act on requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner. We reply to the email address you give below to confirm when it is done.

Request deletion

Use the email address your account is registered to, so we can identify it. If you are not sure which address that was, tell us in the message and we will help.

Prefer email?

Write to support@practicesession.app from the address your account uses, asking us to delete your account. That reaches the same place as this form.
